Five Reasons to Give Your Two Weeks' Notice

bored-at-work.jpgCan't take the daily grind any more? Cubicle-mates driving you to the brink of insanity? It may be time to hang it up, to tell your boss to take this job and fill it. Dumb Little Man posits five reasons you should consider quitting, starting with:

  • You Hate What You're Doing Do you really want to spend the next years doing something you absolutely hate? Will that make you happy? Sure, your paycheck could be decent, but I'll tell you this much: If you currently hate what you're doing then, as far as your potential is concerned, you are leaving a lot on the table by not quitting your job.
  • It's Not Challenging Enough A lot of folks, due to the fact that they're as lazy as it gets, prefer to limit themselves to a job that allows them to coast through each day unchallenged. You cannot be one of these people (can you?). Look deep down inside yourself. Challenging doesn't equal stressful; don't be afraid to open yourself up to more responsibility.
Of course, it's never a good idea to chuck your current job without having a replacement lined up. But I'll definitely agree with that first point: Life's too short to spend 1/3 of it doing something you can't stand. I'm living proof that if you do what you love, the money will follow. Well, small amounts of money, anyway. Photo by crdigregorio.
