First look: Helena Bonham Carter as Elizabeth Taylor

Four months ago, it was announced that Helena Bonham Carter would play Elizabeth Taylor in a made-for-TV movie titled "Burton and Taylor," with actor Dominic West ("The Wire," "The Hour") playing Richard Burton. Now, we're getting our first look at the two of them in character.

BBC has released this promotional photo of Bonham Carter, 47, as the violet-eyed Hollywood icon and West as her on-again, off-again love.

"Burton and Taylor" follows the volatile couple's "private and personal lives played out against their ill-fated appearance in a 1983 revival of Noel Coward's stage play, 'Private Lives,'" according to the network.

The 90-minute drama is not to be confused with "Liz & Dick," the Lifetime movie that starred Lindsay Lohan as Taylor and was widely panned by critics and viewers.

"Burton and Taylor" will premiere on BBC America this fall.
