Firefox 4 for Android: Three Reasons You Should Make the Switch
When it comes to mobile browsers, I've always felt that whatever's built into the phone is good enough. The iPhone's Safari, for example, may not be perfect, but it suits me just fine. Same goes for the browser built into the Android OS. Why learn something new when there's usually so little to gain?
With Firefox 4 for Android, I may have to rethink my position. Check out Mozilla's relentlessly upbeat promo video and see if you can spot the three reasons Firefox 4 is a must-have for Android users.
Did you catch them? See if your picks line up with mine:
- Sync If you use Firefox on your PC, enabling Sync gives you seamless, automated access to your bookmarks, passwords, and even your open tabs. That's the way the desktop-to-mobile world should work.
- The Awesome Screen Actually, this is just Firefox Mobile's take on the Awesome Bar, which instantly pulls up bookmarks, history, and a custom list of search engines -- as you type.
- Add-ons Add-ons are what make desktop Firefox so special, so it's great to see some of the most popular ones (like Adblock Plus) making their way to the mobile version.
Note to Mozilla: Hey, how about some love for us iPhone users?
