Find Creative Commons Photos Using Google

When I look for a photo to reuse in print or on the Web (such as right here in Business Hacks), I always dash off to Flickr, since that site makes it easy to search only for photos that are licensed for commercial use. My options have just expanded, because Google now lets you filter your results by Creative Commons licenses.

Be sure to click Advanced Image Search and choose the appropriate option in Usage Rights. I always use "commercial reuse with modification," for example. If you do, you'll see a filter that reminds you the results are "showing only images labeled for commercial reuse with modification."

This shows that Creative Commons is getting real traction as an alternative licensing platform, and wins like this make it easy to find photos for all sorts of creative and business applications.
