Feds Talking To Two Former Doolittle Staffers

Rep. John Doolittle’s former chief of staff and legislative director have been contacted by the Department of Justice as part of their probe into the congressman’s ties with jailed lobbyist Jack Abramoff, the Associated Press is reporting.

Doolittle’s former legislative director Pete Evich said he was recently contacted by the Deparment of Justice and plans on speaking with them in the near future.

“Representatives of the Department of Justice recently contacted me regarding.their investigation of Congressman Doolittle,” Evich said in a statement. “I have been told that I am not a focus of the investigation and I plan to voluntarily speak with them in the near future.”

The Sacramento Bee reported on Tuesday that Doolittle’s former chief of staff, David Lopez, turned over campaign finance records last year to federal investigators. And Doolittle aide Kevin Ring, who later worked for Abramoff, is currently under investigation.
