Feds: Principal spied on young boys in bathroom

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Federal investigators say an Iowa elementary school principal has told police he placed a hidden video camera in the boys' bathroom to get images of students.

Robert Burke, the principal at Sageville Elementary School in Dubuque, was charged Friday with one count of receiving child pornography. A criminal complaint says an FBI agent downloaded eight images of child pornography from a computer that was later traced to Burke's residence in Dubuque.

The complaint says the 43-year-old Burke admitted during an interview with investigators Friday to placing the camera in the bathroom.

He is expected to make his initial court appearance later Friday.

A person who answered the phone at the school declined comment.

Court records didn't indicate an attorney for Burke.
