Escaped Pa. inmate captured with AK-47
(CBS/AP) HAGERSTOWN, Md. - Maryland police say a man who threatened to kill people with an assault rifle is an escaped inmate from Pennsylvania.
Twenty-one-year-old Woodrow Carmack was being held Monday on bond of more than $650,000.
The Hagerstown Herald-Mail reports that Hagerstown police responded Saturday night to a call about a man in Army fatigues walking and carrying a large duffel bag containing an assault rifle.
They arrested Carmack after a foot chase. In the bag, police found a loaded AK-47, more than 100 rounds of ammunition and a large knife.
They say Carmack later told medical workers he planned to shoot people.
Police say Carmack escaped from Bucks County, Pa. He was sentenced in February to nine-to-23 months for aggravated assault, weapon possession and making terroristic threats.
