Enrique Iglesias: A Hit Record Made Me Sexy

He was born in Spain, raised in Miami, and you may have heard of his father -- Julio Iglesias, one of the most romantic, bilingual crooners of our time.

Well, the apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Enrique Iglesias, who exudes a lot of sex appeal himself, has become a romantic singer-songwriter and worldwide star.

He first hit the music scene back in 1995. Since then, Iglesias has sold more than 58 million albums, and had 21 No. 1 hits.

The Grammy-winner's first bilingual studio album, "Euphoria" is said to have fans dancing all summer long. He joined the "Early Summer Concert Series" to perform his new single, "I Like It."

Needless to say, the fans liked it.

"The crowd's amazing, he told Early Show co-anchor Erica Hill.

Amongst the sea of fans, Spanish flags were raised -- in honor of the country's recent World Cup win.

Iglesias had said if Spain won the World Cup, he would go water skiing naked in Biscayne Bay in Miami,

So -- will he?!

"I'm a few days from away from making that a reality," he said. "It was a bet. A bet's a bet with my friends. It's not good to see me water skiing naked, trust me. You don't want to see that!"

His female fans disagree.

The ability to sing and write in Spanish and English has been a plus for Iglesias.

Yet, when he writes, he doesn't necessarily pen songs he wants to translate from one language to another.

"I grew up in Miami. I wrote a lot in Spanish, some in English. I don't speak perfect English or Spanish. It's more like 'Spanglish.'" he laughed.

With "Euphoria," fans have the option to choose a version of the album with more Spanish or more English.

While one would think that Iglesias draws more romantic inspiration by singing and writing in Spanish, he says that with this album, whenever he got stuck in English, he would move onto Spanish and vice versa.

"That helped me artistically," he added.

The humble Iglesias swears he wasn't considered romantic or sexy at first.

"If you saw me when I wake up in the morning in my underwear ... I'm telling you -- let me put it to you this way: It took a hit song for people to think that," he said. "It's all about fame, what it does. A hit record, immediately, suddenly makes you sexy."

Whatever it was, it turned out all right in the end.

"Keep the records coming!" he joked.

"Euphoria" was released July 6, and the first single off the album, "I Like It," debuted at No. 10 on Billboard's Top 100.

Enrique released two videos for his single "I Like It" -- one featuring only Enrique and Pitbull, and another that includes the cast of MTV's now-infamous "Jersey Shore" reality show.
