Emmy Nominees: Outstanding Drama Series

NEW YORK (CBS) The shows in contention for Outstanding Drama Series at the 62nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards don't shy away from tough topics or controversial characters, from sexy vampires to drug dealers to a serial killer.

Here's a look at the nominees:

AMC

"Breaking Bad" (AMC). A high school chemistry teacher teams up with a former student to produce and sell methamphetamine after receiving a diagnosis of terminal lung cancer.

Nominated Stars: Bryan Cranston, Aaron Paul


Showtime

"Dexter" (Showtime). A blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department has a secret life as a serial killer, but only allows himself to kill those who do harm to others.

CBS

"The Good Wife" (CBS). The wife of a former state's attorney must return to work as a litigator after her husband is jailed following a very public sex and corruption scandal.

ABC

"Lost" (ABC). After plane crashes on a mysterious island, the survivors discover the island's strange past, supernatural properties and the group of "Others" who inhabit it.

AMC

"Mad Men" (AMC). The employees of an advertising agency deal with their clients, their complicated personal lives and the changing times in 1960s New York.

HBO

"True Blood" (HBO). In a world where supernatural creatures exist and vampires integrate themselves into society, a Louisiana waitress falls in love with a vampire.
