Emmy Frontrunner Jane Lynch on @katiecouric
NEW YORK (CBS) Jane Lynch is likely to have something to be "Glee"-ful about this weekend.
The actress is considered the frontrunner in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series category at Sunday's Primetime Emmy Awards for her portrayal of the sharp-tongued, diabolical cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester on "Glee."
Pictures: Jane Lynch
Special Section: Emmy Awards 2010
Other stars in the category include "Modern Family" actresses Julie Bowen and Sofia Vergara, Jane Krakowski of "30 Rock," Holland Taylor of "Two and a Half Men" and Kristen Wiig of "Saturday Night Live."
Sylvester, often seen in one of her signature track suits, ridicules her cheerleading squad (the "Cheerios"), threatens the principal and mocks her faculty rival, glee club advisor Will Schuester (nominee Matthew Morrison).
She vows to destroy Schuester's club, and does everything from leaking secrets to rival schools to placing herself on a competitions judging panel to try and ensure the group's failure.
Lynch also got to show off her pipes on the show, dueting with Olivia Newton John on "Let's Get Physical" and channeling vintage Madonna for a recreation of the "Vogue" music video.
The actress, whose film and television career spans 30 years, spoke to "CBS Evening News" Anchor Katie Couric in May about her role on "Glee," being openly gay in Hollywood, and what she thinks of Rush Limbaugh.
