Elderly couple found dead in Mich. home; son in custody

ROCHESTER HILLS, Mich. - Oakland County authorities say a 53-year-old man has been arrested after the bodies of a couple in their 80s were found in their suburban Detroit home.

The sheriff's department says a woman called Monday to say that she'd been unable to reach her parents in Rochester Hills since Saturday.

Lt. Steve Schneider said in a statement Tuesday that deputies went to the home and found the bodies of the 87-year-old man and his 85-year-old wife.

He says deputies arrested a 53-year-old man who also lived at the home.

Schneider says the suspect has a history of mental illness and drug and alcohol abuse.

So far, the department hasn't released the names or those involved or the cause of death.
