Easily Add Files to Drop.io with Drag & Drop.io Firefox Extension

drop-io-logo.jpgFile-sharing service Drop.io just got a lot easier to use thanks to the new Drag & Drop.io extension for Firefox, which makes it possible to drag files from your desktop -- and even other Web pages -- to your "drop."

In case the name doesn't ring a bell, Drop.io (pronounced "drop-eeo," not "drop-dot-eye-oh" like I thought) offers online storage for your files, placing everything into a "drop" -- a custom Web site you can optionally share with others. The service also lets you send and receive faxes and even record the audio from cell-phone calls.

With the new Firefox extension installed, you no longer have to browse your hard drive to select the files you want to upload: Just drag them from your desktop to your drop page. If you don't have a drop page open, just drag the files to the little red Drop.io button in the lower-right corner of the browser. Cooler still, you can drag and drop images and file links from any open Web page. See all this in action in Drop.io's demo video.

This seals it: I'm hereby switching from YouSendIt (previously my go-to file sharing site) to Drop.io. I love this service! [via Lifehacker]
