Duchess Kate did not disappoint Tuesday at her first state dinner, taking place at Buckingham Palace to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping to the United Kingdom.

The Duchess of Cambridge looked stunning in her red cap-sleeved gown, custom made by British designer Jenny Packham, and a gorgeous lotus flower tiara, made by Garrard London (per People). It marked Kate's third time sporting a tiara and the first time we've seen her in a formal gown since giving birth to daughter Charlotte in May.

She was accompanied by husband Prince William at the affair -- hosted by Queen Elizabeth II. Some 130 guests were in attendance, including Sophie, Countess of Wessex and her husband, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex.

The President of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Xi Jinping, and his wife, Madame Peng Liyuan, are paying a state visit to the U.K. as guests of the queen. They are expected to stay at Buckingham Palace. The last U.K. state visit paid by a Chinese president was Hu Jintao in 2005.
