Digital Media Tech Firm Entriq Acquires DayPort

This story was written by David Kaplan.

Digital media services and DRM firm Entriq has bought online video services firm DayPort, the companies said. Carlsbad, CA.-based Entriq hopes that DayPort can bring in additional tools for managing digital video across mobile and online platforms. Nine-year-old DayPort, based in Mankota, MN, works with media companies such as Oprah Winfrey's Harpo Productions, Martha Stewart Omnimedia (NYSE: MSO), BskyB and CBS (NYSE: CBS). Terms of the purchase were not disclosed.

Entriq COO Guy Tennant told us that DayPort will retain its brand, but that its operations will be merged with the main company. Under the terms of the deal, DayPort CEO Cory Factor will join Entriq as CTO, along with several other DayPort executives, who will also take on senior level roles at the merged company. Looking at the rest of this year, Tennant said Entriq will continue looking for possible acquisitions; in particular, the company hopes to complete one or two other purchases this year, probably in the mobile arena.
