Did wife #1 use peanut butter in attempt to harm wife #2?

Was peanut butter the weapon of choice for a Battle Creek, Mich. ex-wife? iStockphoto

(CBS/AP) Battle Creek, Mich.- If this case sounds a little nutty, that's only because it is.

A Michigan woman who says she is highly allergic to peanuts claims her husband's ex-wife tried to assault her...with peanut butter.

The Battle Creek Enquirer reports the woman told police that her husband's ex mailed him a bill smeared with the notoriously allergenic food, in an attempt to harm her.

She wants assault charges filed, and the case is being reviewed by the Calhoun County prosecutor's office.

The accuser told police she came home during her lunch break Friday and found an envelope in the mailbox addressed to her husband with oil soaking through. The outside of the envelope had writing indicating that it contained peanut butter.

The ex-wife told the cops she meant no harm. She said the "smear job" was merely intended to keep the second wife from reading mail that didn't involve her.

Not to make light of peanut allergies, but you never have this sort of trouble with e-mail.
