Dennis McKenzie, paroled Calif. rapist, allegedly cuts off GPS monitor and vanishes after harassing victim's family

(CBS/AP) SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. - Police are searching for a paroled rapist who has been on the loose after cutting off his GPS monitoring device. Authorities say he has been harassing the family of his elderly victim, according to CBS Los Angeles.

Dennis McKenzie, 55, was reportedly released from a state prison recently, and had been living in a Long Beach halfway house when he cut off the GPS monitor and vanished, police say.

Since disappearing, McKenzie has reportedly made over 50 threatening and obscene phone calls to the family of an 80-year-old woman he brutally raped in 2004.

McKenzie had been sentenced to seven years in prison for the crime.

The station reports the that McKenzie has a history of spending time in Lake Arrowhead, Long Beach, Palm Springs and Los Angeles County.

A felony no-bail warrant has been issued for McKenzie and police are asking the public to contact them if they have information on his whereabouts, according to the station.
