Dead Fetus Found in Airplane Bathroom in Manila
MANILA, Philippines (CBS/AP) According to police in the Philippines, a dead fetus was found in the bathroom of an airplane that arrived at Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport from Abu Dhabi.
The gruesome discovery comes just months after a woman gave birth on another flight to Manila and dumped the live infant in an airplane trash bag.
Aviation police investigator Marcelino Peninoy says a cleaner discovered the remains of the 5- to 6-month-old male fetus Monday on the Etihad Airways aircraft after it landed.
According to ABS-CBN News, the worker who found the fetus said, "It was wrapped with napkin and when I was about to throw it into a garbage can, I saw its head."
The identity of the mother was unclear, though millions of Filipinos work abroad. Abortion is illegal in the Philippines and the mother could face charges if she terminated the pregnancy.
In September, a returning Filipino worker who abandoned her baby after giving birth on a plane claimed she was raped by her employer.
