DCCC Airs Its First Ad In Louisiana Special Election
The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee launched its first ad against former state Rep. Woody Jenkins this week, attacking the Republican nominee running in next month’s Louisiana special election for failing to pay taxes on his business.
“Woody’s company was hit with 20 tax liens for failing to pay taxes on time,” a narrator says in the ad. “And while Woody paid late, he supported a 15 percent national sales tax on food, doctors’ visits, just about everything.”
The ad is the first shot in what is expected to be a highly competitive special election to replace former Rep. Richard Baker (R-La.), who resigned his seat in February
Jenkins is running against state Rep. Don Cazayoux, who was recruited by Democrats because of his ability to appeal to moderates and independents in the district. Cazayoux ran as a socially conservative, populist candidate in the primary, comparing himself to popular longtime Louisiana senator John Breaux (D-La.)
