NEW YORK (CBS) Famed illusionist David Copperfield briefly left his post at Las Vegas to perform on the Season 5 finale of "America's Got Talent" Wednesday.

Cooperfield mesmerized the audience while performing two box tricks with techno music blasting in the background.

His first stunt had him magically appear in a big empty box, sitting on a motorcycle. Copperfield later situated himself in a narrow box, and somehow was able to manually shrink himself to almost the size of a baby.

With ease, he returned to his original size, leaving the audience pondering the secrets of his act.

Cirque du Soleil, the Goo Goo Dolls and  Usher, who performed his latest single, "DJ Got Us Falling in Love,"  were the other guest performances of the night.

Wednesday's two-hour finale, which crowned blues singer Michael Grimm as the winner, also gave each top 4 finalist the chance for a  duet with a celebrity.

Prince Poppycock performed with Donna Summer. Grimm teamed up with Jewel. Fighting Gravity performed as Lionel Ritchie sang his hit "Dancing on the Ceiling." And finally, 10-year-old opera singer Jackie Evancho sang with Sarah Brightman to "Time to Say Goodbye."
