Danang International Fireworks Competition is a visual feast for the eyes

(CBS News) Just because we're still a ways out from the 4th of July, doesn't mean we can't highlight some amazing pyrotechnics on The Feed. And the scale of that particular subject is seriously off the charts in the video above. While you've probably been to a fireworks event or two before, have you ever seen a fireworks competition? Click play to light a fuse of visual fun.

The vibrant and fast-paced time-lapse work (with music by James Grant) was shot at the Danang International Fireworks Competition 2013 and posted on Vimeo by Rob Whitworthwho was previously featured for a fascinating look at traffic, and who writes about his latest:

The event is regarded by many as the biggest and best fireworks competition in the world. The video captures some of the scale of the spectacular fireworks and the excitement of the booming city of Da Nang, Vietnam.
Teams from USA, Russia, Japan, Italy and Home Team Da Nang competed in the event with the Melrose Pyrotechnics team from the USA taking the grand prize.
Another amazing work that has definitely just earned Rob a big triple-rainbow salute of impressive photographic skill and spectacular visual "flare" from us here at The Feed! (The quotes are there because it has two meanings that are both apt... oh, fine, never mind!)
