Dalila's A Doozy Of A Storm

What was tropical storm Dalila has reached hurricane force off Mexico's southern Pacific coast.

The system headed out to sea after causing some minor flooding in the southern Mexican states of Guerrero and Chiapas.

Dalila's maximum sustained winds rose to about 77 miles an hour, just above the 74 mile-an-hour benchmark for a hurricane. The storm has wind gusts of up to 88 miles an hour.

Dalila is centered nearly 300 miles west-southwest of the port of Manzanillo and is moving out to sea at about ten miles an hour.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center says the storm may strengthen slightly but is expected to remain offshore.

Heavy rains from the storm damaged about 20 houses in the resort city of Acapulco on Sunday, and dozens more homes were flooded earlier in Chiapas.
