Customize the Windows 7 Logon Screen
One of the more interesting bits of Windows 7 trivia is the fact that the revised logon screen -- which looks pretty snazzy to begin with -- is customizable.
OEMs apparently have the ability to change the background image, but end users do not -- at least not without some registry hacking. But thanks to the Tweaks.com Logon Changer, now anyone can customize the Windows 7 logon screen without messing with the registry.
I suppose I can now die happy. Recently, I told you about how to customize almost every imaginable facet of Windows 7 with the Ultimate Windows Tweaker, but I lamented logon screen changing was not among the hacks. Logon Changer, on the other hand, is a free no-install utility that lets you select any JPG image and make it the logon screen image with just a couple of clicks.
And while Windows has strict file size restrictions for the logon screen, Logon Changer will automatically resize and compress your image for you, so its truly a dead simple affair. You can change the image as often as you like, and revert back to the default image as well.
So, go nuts - put your corporate logo on the logon screen, or, if you prefer, a picture of your dog.
