Couple Called "Swine" by Maldives Officiant in Vows Ceremony
A couple renewing their vows in the Maldives thought they were receiving blessings from the officiant in a local language. But really the officiant was calling them "swine" and "infidels" who will "fornicate" and have pock-marked "bastard children."
The speaker also made frequent references to bestiality, "fornication by homosexuals" and the brides breasts, and filled out the ceremony by reading from an employment contract and a bogus "penal code."
The couple was visiting the Vilu Reef resort and paid $1,300 for the recommitment ceremony, the BBC reported

The hotel has apologized and the country's national leaders are weighing in, condemning the hotel staff's conduct and emphasizing to citizens that tourism is by far the largest part of the Maldives' economy.
"We have asked the resort to inform us what action they have taken. We have also requested a formal inquiry into the matter from the police," Deputy Tourism Minister Ismail Yasir told the BBC.
The officiant first speaks to the couple in English and then begins the ceremony as they stand and hold their palms upward to pray. Instead, speaking in the Dhivehi language, he says, "Your marriage is not a valid one. You are not the kind of people who can have a valid marriage. One of you is an infidel. The other, too, is an infidel - and we have reason to believe - an atheist, who does not even believe in an infidel religion."
"After the ceremony, the couple are taken to plant a coconut tree together, during which various comments are made about the bride's breasts," the BBC reported.
