Cops: Squatter lived on man's boat, stole booze, used bed

CHICAGO -- When Michigan man Ramon Beaulieu arrived on Friday June 5 at the Chicago yacht club where he keeps his boat, he was surprised to find someone had been living on it, reports CBS Chicago.

The fridge had been cleaned out and the boat's living area was in disarray, Beaulieu said.

"He didn't just sleep on there. He was eating my food. He was drinking. He stole all my booze. He had sex - it looks like - multiple times in my bed. It's disgusting," Beaulieu said. "I had to throw out everything. The police took everything as evidence. I just said, 'Keep it.'"

While the mess was disturbing, the station says Beaulieu was shocked to discover that the man who trashed his boat had apparently just been released from jail.

The Cook County Sheriff's Office says the suspect, 24-year-old Terry Mikkelson of Chicago, left his jail paperwork on the boat. In May, Mikkelson was charged with burglary, and was supposed to be under electronic monitoring for burglary.

Beaulieu said Mikkelson left the boat with a knife and clothes that belonged to the boat owner.

Police have not said if Mikkelson has been apprehended or will be charged in the case.
