Cops: Missing Colo. man was beaten, stabbed to death

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Police say a Colorado Springs man found dead in Iowa was beaten and stabbed to death.

Colorado Springs police said Thursday an autopsy on 61-year-old Grant Frazier determined he died from blunt force trauma and multiple stab wounds. The death was ruled a homicide.

Twenty-one-year-old Bionca Rogers surrendered to authorities in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on Wednesday on suspicion of first-degree murder in Frazier's death.

The Iowa City Press-Citizen says Rogers on Thursday refused to waive extradition proceedings to face a murder charge in Colorado. Linn County prosecutor Nick Maybanks says Rogers will remain in Iowa custody until Colorado completes paperwork to return her to Colorado Springs.

It is unclear whether Rogers has a lawyer.

Frazier was last seen Feb. 16, and police say Rogers was with him. His body was found this week in Newton, Iowa.

Police haven't said where Rogers is from or how she knew Frazier. Court documents filed in August 2012 list her home address as an apartment complex in Iowa City. Other documents say she was working at an Iowa City fast-food restaurant.
