Cops: Fla. man beat girlfriend for cheating...in his dream
MIAMI - A Florida man allegedly terrorized his girlfriend after having a dream that she had cheated on him, reports CBS Miami.
Carlos Gascon, 27, held his girlfriend captive for an entire day Friday at her Summerland Key home in the north Miami-Dade area, according to Monroe County Sheriff's officials. The station reports the woman managed to call for help in the evening after Gascon passed out.
Sheriff's spokeswoman Becky Herrin says the woman told authorities that Gascon "was angry at her because he had a dream she was cheating on him," the Miami Herald reported.
Herrin said the suspect beat the unidentified woman, slashed her leg with a knife, poured hot coffee on her and even threatened to kill her while holding a knife to her throat.
Gascon also allegedly picked up his dog and slammed it to the ground. Herrin said the suspect then put his foot on the dog's neck.
According to CBS Miami, Gascon is charged with aggravated battery, aggravated assault, domestic battery by strangulation, battery, false imprisonment, and animal cruelty. He is currently being held on a $265,000 bond.
