Impersonating a...substitute teacher? Mom, daughter jailed

WATERFORD, Mich. - Police in Waterford, Mich. say a 24-year-old woman tried to fill in for her mother as a substitute teacher at a local elementary school, reports CBS Detroit.

Authorities say they were called to Riverside Elementary School after someone complained about a woman impersonating a substitute. It was later found out that the 24-year-old suspect from the Flint area was filling in for her mother, 44, who had a prior appointment she didn't want to miss, according to the station.

While investigators were speaking with another family member of the suspect at the police department, they noticed another female matching the description of the suspect's mother in a vehicle parked in the police department's parking lot, reports the station.

Investigators confronted the woman, who identified herself as the suspect's mother. She was escorted into the police department and interviewed by investigators.

Both the mother and daughter told investigators the reason for making the switch was for the money. Both were jailed and Oakland County prosecutors will reportedly determine if any charges will be filed.
