Congressman's Grandchildren Reported Missing

Three grandchildren of Rep. Gary G. Miller (R-Calif.) have been reported missing from their California home, authorities confirmed on Tuesday.

The three children, all boys 6 to 8 years old, were first reported missing Monday afternoon in the town of Diamond Bar, just outside of Los Angeles.

“The victims are believed to be with their mother Jennifer Dejongh, possibly en route to Las Vegas or the state of Nevada in general.” said Steve Whitmore, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

According to the San Gabriel Valley Tribune, investigators believe the children’s parents are divorced and there is a custody battle between the parents. It was unclear though, exactly what their mother’s relationship is to the congressman.

“There may be a custodial issue at hand,” said Whitmore, although he could not confirm if the children’s parents are divorced.

Messages left at Miller’s congressional office were not immediately returned.
