Coming Soon: Bob Hope Airport

Travelers could be flying in and out of Bob Hope Airport by the end of the year.

That'll be the new name of the airport in Burbank, California.

And the late comedian would have wanted it that way.

Hope had told his family he would appreciate an airport in his name. His daughter Linda says Hope was "always a little jealous of John Wayne," who had an airport named after him in 1979.

She says Hope often flew in and out of Burbank Airport, and kept his private jet there.

The Burbank-Glendale-Pasadena Airport Authority voted unanimously for the name change yesterday. It still must be approved by the three city councils, but that's expected to happen soon.

Hope's family plans a fund-raiser to help reimburse the airport for the cost of replacing signs, stationery and business cards.

Hope died at his Toluca Lake home in July at the age of 100.
