Clyde Harshaw, Okla. man, accused of kidnapping, torturing girlfriend for 5 days, report says
(CBS) McAlester, Okla. -- An Oklahoma man has been charged after allegedly kidnapping and torturing his girlfriend for five days, CBS affiliate KOTV reports.
Clyde Harshaw, 42, was arrested July 12 near McAlester, Okla., the station reports. According to the report, Harshaw allegedly kidnapped his 27-year-old girlfriend after she refused to continue buying him pseudoephedrine, a key component used to make meth.
Harshaw allegedly bound the woman with extension cords and rope to keep her from escaping, cut her with knives and poured acid on the wounds, beat her legs with a hammer and used a drill to pull out her hair, the station reports.
"She alleged that he had taken a drill, with a bit still on it, put it at her head and turn the drill on. The hair would catch up in the drill and pull patches of hair out," Pittsburg County Sheriff Joel Kerns told the station.
The woman told police Harshaw injected her with meth to test its strength, reports the station. The woman reportedly escaped through a screen door Harshaw left open after he became distracted while attempting to burn her clothes.
Harshaw is charged with two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, as well as kidnapping and domestic abuse resulting in great bodily injury.
