Clinton headlines DNC's second night
(CBS News) Former President Bill Clinton headlines the second night of the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday.
Here's a look at what to expect from the highlights of the Wednesday night schedule, which will be streamed live on CBSNews.com.
Elizabeth Warren, 10 p.m. ET
Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren represents a wing of progressive politics that has waned in the Democratic party. Nevertheless, her candidacy has inspired Democrats across the country.
Bill Clinton, 10:30 p.m. ET
For a preview of the former president's speech, look no further than the political ad featuring Mr. Clinton that the Obama campaign produced.
"President Obama has a plan to rebuild America from the ground up, investing in innovation, education and job training," Mr. Clinton says in the ad. "It only works if there is a strong middle class. That's what happened when I was president. We need to keep going with his plan."
Mr. Clinton, as the Obama campaign explains, will make the case for giving Mr. Obama another four years to carry out his agenda -- just as he had in the 1990's. The campaign, meanwhile, has downplayed speculation that Mr. Clinton's speech could be problematic if not vetted by the Obama team.
Democratic businessmen
Republicans at their convention last week in Tampa employed the phrase "we built it" to counter what they see as an anti-business philosophy from President Obama.
On Wednesday, a number of businessmen are taking the stage at the Democratic convention to potentially counter that message.
Those businessmen include: California businessman Steve Westly; Tom Steyer, a partner at Hellman & Friedman private equity; Bill Butcher, the founder of Port City Brewing Company; and former Costco CEO Jim Sinegal
