NEW YORK (CBS) Katie Couric asked Clint Eastwood if he would make her day - and he did.

The award-winning actor and director channeled "Dirty" Harry and repeated his infamous line from 1983's "Sudden Impact" during an interview with the "CBS Evening News" anchor and managing editor.

Couric asked how many fans approach him and ask him to deliver the line - "Go ahead, make my day."

"Quite a few," he answered, laughing. "It's not annoying, but I - but I don't say it."

"Would you do it for me?" Couric asked.

"You'd be tough to resist," he responded, before saying it for her.

The two also discussed his latest film, "Hereafter," which opens in theaters on Oct. 22. Part of the interview will air Thursday night on the "CBS Evening News."
