Christopher Lee: Stars react to death of prolific actor
Celebrities, politicians and co-stars are mourning the loss of prolific actor Christopher Lee, who died June 7, according to the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea in London.
Known for his deep, booming voice, Lee appeared in 250-plus movies, including the "Lord of the Rings" and "Star Wars" franchises, along with the James Bond film, "The Man with the Golden Gun." He launched his horror career in 1957, starring as the monster in Hammer's "The Curse of Frankenstein."
"Christopher has been an enormous inspiration to me my entire life. He was the last of his kind - a true legend - who I'm fortunate to have called a friend. He will continue to inspire me and I'm sure countless others for generations to come," said director Tim Burton, who worked with Lee on five films including "Charlie And The Chocolate Factory."
Director Martin Scorsese said, "I think of him every day, and I always will. We both wished that we'd been able to work together more, but it was a joy to make 'Hugo' together. ... He was a great actor, a wonderful friend, a real professional, and I'm really going to miss him."
