Chris Christie schedules press conference amid presidential speculation
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has added a 1 p.m. ET press conference to his public schedule Tuesday, amid speculation the much-hyped Republican could enter the GOP presidential contest.
The press conference will be held at the governor's office in Trenton, and New Jersey Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno will hold her own press conference a half hour later at the Gaspari Nutrition Company in Lakewood Township, New Jersey.
Christie is reportedly close to announcing a final decision about running for president, even though he has repeatedly denied he was considering it. Several in the Republican establishment have praised the governor and suggested he'd be a strong candidate. However, a full 70 percent of voters, and 63 percent of Republican primary voters, say they are undecided about Christie or haven't heard enough about him, a new CBS News poll shows.
