Chinese artist makes 2D into 3D

Chinese 3D artist Qi Xinghua is busy working on his newest creation, a 96-square-meter painting of a Hong Kong cityscape, which he calls "City Explosion."

The painting is on display at Pacific Place -- a shopping, dining and entertainment destination in Hong Kong -- and passers-by can't help but stop and stare at Qi's mend-bending creation.

Qi says the secret to his unique paintings lies in breaking people's preconceived notions of what art is.

The perspectives in his paintings are precisely calculated and Qi prides himself on being the first in his country to add such perspectives to his paintings.

In February, one of his paintings, "Lions Gate Gorge," made it into the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's largest 3D painting.
