Chicago boy, 14, accused of fatally stabbing brother, 16

CHICAGO -- A 14-year-old is accused of stabbing his older brother to death in their home in South Chicago Heights, reports CBS Chicago.

Police Chief William Joyce says the brothers were fighting in the basement of the home and their mother tried to break it up. But the younger boy stabbed the 16-year-old with a large kitchen knife, reports the station.

Chief Joyce says the older boy, identified as Larry Miles, was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

Joyce says the younger brother left the home after the stabbing, but returned with his grandfather to face investigators.

The chief would not confirm what a source told CBS Chicago -- that the deadly stabbing may have been a case of self-defense.
