CBS News Taps Axelrod For White House Coverage

(CBS)
CBS News announced this morning that correspondent Jim Axelrod has been named as the network's Chief White House Correspondent, effective Monday, February 6. "I have never seen a reporter as intensely driven as Jim," said CBS News President Sean McManus, adding, "that aggressiveness will serve him and CBS News very well on the White House beat, one of the most crucial and competitive for any news organization. I can't wait to turn him loose."

Axlerod replaces John Roberts, who will be joining CNN as a National Correspondent later this month. Also today, CBS News announced that Lara Logan has been named Chief Foreign Correspondent and Byron Pitts has been named National Correspondent for the network.
