(CBS / What's Trending) Make sure you have the kleenex box next to you on the couch because it's going to be an emotional episode of "The Office." It's the last time Steve Carell, who plays awkward turtle boss Michael Scott, will star on the Emmy-winning television series. "Goodbye, Michael" will air at 9PM tonight on NBC.

The actor, who also appeared in "The Dana Carvey Show" and "The Daily Show," said he's opted not to renew his contract so he can pursue other acting avenues. As showbiz has shown us, the show will go on without him -- at least until next season. Although in real life Carell says he isn't anything like Michael Scott, he really connected with the character and found him fun to play. He felt that everyone at least knew a Michael Scott, unless you were a Michael Scott yourself. He also revealed that one of the most famous scenes in "The Office" history, where Michael kisses Oscar in "Gay Witch Hunt" was completely improved: Another thing we loved about Michael Scott is his ability to fall in love with almost every woman who paid attention to him: His ability to ask the worst questions at the worst times was uncanny, making even the audience feel awkward themselves: Not all the memorable moments happened on screen. The cast and crew were proud of Carell when he walked off the set in solidarity with the show's writers during the Writer's Guild of America strikes in 2007: If what everyone is saying online -- from the fans to his friends on set -- is true, then it seems he will be sorely missed.
