(CBS/AP) - The Lifetime cable network is developing a possible TV movie about the sensational murder trial of Casey Anthony, the Florida mother who was acquitted of killing her 2-year-old daughter, a spokeswoman says.

Fox Television Studios has optioned the film and television rights to "Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony," spokeswoman Leslie Oren said Tuesday. The book, released Nov. 15, was written by retired Casey Anthony prosecutor Jeff Ashton.

Jurors in July acquitted Anthony in the killing of her daughter, Caylee, and she was released from prison. She is now somewhere in Florida, serving probation for an unrelated check fraud case.

It's not known when the project, which Oren says is still in the early stages, will air. Variety reports that Lifetime has not greenlit the film yet.

In the book, Ashton takes jabs at Anthony's defense lawyers and jurors, calling lead defense attorney Jose Baez "smarmy" and displaying an unflattering view of the jurors.

"There is an unearned air of arrogance about the man that is incredibly frustrating to witness," Ashton writes about Baez. "The word I used in describing Jose is smarmy: somebody who is slick, underhanded and doesn't shoot straight."

According to People, the film would tell the story from the prosecutions point of view, detailing the three years Ashton and his team spent preparing and prosecuting the Florida mother.
