The initial report about the views of George and Cindy Anthony was made by CNN, which said that's what Lippman had told the network.
Lippman issued a statement Thursday aiming to clarify his previous remarks reported in CNN's "AC 360" Wednesday night. Lippman said Thursday that George and Cindy Anthony just want to know the truth about what happened to Caylee, and they did not, under any circumstances, want Anthony to receive the death penalty, reports CNN.
Lippman also added that not everything he said to "AC 360" reporter Gary Tuchman was conveyed to viewers.
Casey Anthony, 25, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in 2008. If convicted, she could get the death penalty.Prosecutors have argued that Caylee was suffocated by her mother with duct tape. The defense contends Caylee drowned in her grandparents' swimming pool.
Caylee's remains were found in December 2008, almost six months after she went missing in Orlando.
The Casey Anthony case was recently reported on by "48 Hours Mystery."
