(CBS/WKMG/AP) ORLANDO, Fla. - Casey Anthony was removed from an Orlando courtroom Thursday afternoon after appearing very fragile as photos of her 2-year-old daughter Caylee's skull were shown.

Anthony began to rock back and forth, breathe deeply and hold her head in the palm of her hand as Dr. Gary Utz of the Orange/Oseola county Medical Examiner's Office showed pictures of Caylee Anthony's remains, including graphic photos of her skull. Anthony did not look up as photos were shown, but the photos were described in graphic detail, reports CBS affiliate WKMG.

Dr. Utz testified that their were plant roots growing in the mat of hair on the skull, and the consistency of the hair mat and roots helped keep the jaw bone, which normally detaches, attached to the skull.

In the photos, tape could be seen sitting on the nose and mouth area of the skull. Utz said the tape was "lightly adhered" to the jaw bone, reports the station.

At around 3:15 p.m., after Anthony had apparently gathered enough strength to stand, she was escorted out of the courtroom by a deputy. She was brought back in several minutes later. The jury was not present during the episode, according to the station.

Perry brought the jury back in at 3:30 p.m. and recessed for the day, giving jurors no reason for the early dismissal.

Judge Belvin Perry had warned those in the courtroom earlier in the day that graphic images of Caylee's remains would be shown. He asked anyone who might get queasy to leave during a short recess before prosecutors called a crime scene investigator to the stand.

Casey Anthony's parents, George and Cindy, decided to leave the courtroom at that time.

Anthony, 25, could be sentenced to death if convicted of first-degree murder. She has pleaded not guilty and the defense claims Caylee accidentally drowned in the family's swimming pool.

The Casey Anthony case was recently reported on by "48 Hours Mystery."
