(CBS/AP) WAUKESHA, Wis. - A southeastern Wisconsin university is on lockdown Tuesday while police are investigating a report of a man with a firearm.

Carroll University sent a text alert to students after the public safety office received a report of a man with a gun.

University public relations director Claire Beglinger told WITI-TV that two students called public safety officers to report a man with a "long gun" near the tennis courts on the northwest corner of the campus in Waukesha. They described him as white and about 50 to 60 years old.

Carroll has about 3,500 students and is located about 30 miles west of Milwaukee.

Beglinger said police brought in tracking dogs to help with the investigation.
