College student accused of videotaping classmates in shower

PITTSBURGH -- A Carnegie Mellon University student has been kicked out of school and faces charges for allegedly videotaping dozens of students in the showers of a campus dorm, CBS Pittsburgh reports.

Reports that Daniel Jorge, 19, was photographing and taping students in communal showers date back to September 2014, according to a complaint filed by police.

Two students that month reported spotting someone holding an iPhone over a shower stall.

The complaint says Jorge, of Williston, N.Y., eventually told police that he used his iPhone to videotape an unknown number of young men in the sixth floor showers since he arrived on campus in August 2014.

When asked how many young men he filmed, the criminal complaint says Jorge replied, "lots."

Police obtained a search warrant to confiscate his iPhone, laptop and external hard drive, according to the complaint. They allegedly found more than 30 videos of young men, naked and showering. Some men could be identified while others could not, police said.

Jorge turned himself in on Thursday. He is charged with three counts of invasion of privacy and two counts of criminal attempt. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for March 4.
