PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) We all know that credit card debt can be a heavy drag on the economy, not to mention on one person's purchasing power.

And then there's the suburban Philadelphia woman who got a credit card bill for almost $300 million!

Patrice Perry says she endured months of harassment from the credit card company Capital One before receiving the massive bill in August.

Perry says the bill for $286,651,237 was accompanied by a letter threatening legal action if she did not submit her payment in the included envelope.

That's 286 million, 651 thousand, 237 dollars.

Perry's attorney says his client first received a bill last year claiming she owed about $4,800. She received subsequent notices seeking greater or lesser amounts but was given no reasons for the changes.

Then came that whopping August bill: $286,651,237.

Perry sued Capital One last week.

The company tells the Philadelphia Daily News that human error sometimes leads to inaccurate billing letters. Capital One says it is working to resolve the issue.
