(CBS News) Canon unveiled a drool-worthy digital single-lens reflex camera (dSLR) Friday. The Canon EOS 5D Mark III features 22.3-megapixels, an ISO range of 100-25600 and a 1080p digital video recorder.

Other features include, Canon DIGIC 5+ Image Processor, 61-Point High Density Reticular AF and a shooting speed of 6.0 fps.

The camera is already getting "oohs" and "ahhs" from critics. And, no wonder. It's got a hefty price tag of $3,499 for the body and an additional $4,299 for the kit, which includes a 24-105mm F4.0 lens.

CNET Asia hands-on: Canon EOS 5D Mark III

The Verge's Nathan Ingraham calls it "a cinematic revolution" because of its 22.3-megapixel CMOS sensor. The sensor, which is 24 x 36mm, can capture 5784 x 3861 sized pixels.

PC Magazine's Jim Fisher thinks the vertical battery grip is "a great option for event shooters who often shoot in portrait orientation and need to shoot for extended periods of time with the camera as it can house a second battery, effectively doubling the camera's operating time."

CNET Asia has a hands-on of the new dSLR, which will be available in March.
