According to the Daily News, the lawyer, Michelle Mechanic, was attempting to convince a judge not to set Valle free on bail at a hearing in Manhattan Federal Court.
"She can't imagine what she would do if he is released from custody," Mechanic reportedly said about her client.
Valle, 28, has been behind bars since his arrest in October when federal authorities accused the New York City police officer of plotting to kidnap women, rape and torture them and then cook and eat their body parts.
A criminal complaint says Valle kept files on his computer about more than 100 women, containing a photo and address for each.
