(CBS/AP) SAN JOSE, Calif. - San Jose man Samuel Corona has pleaded guilty to the beating death of his girlfriend's 6-year-old son, then driving the body to Arizona where it was buried and entombed in concrete.

Prosecutors say the 37-year-old pleaded guilty Friday to murder and torture for the 2007 beating death of Oscar Jimenez Jr.

As part of a plea deal, Corona is expected to be sentenced to life in prison without parole rather than a possible death sentence if he had gone to trial.

The San Francisco Chronicle says the boy was killed in the couple's San Jose home. Investigators say Corona and the boy's mother, Kathryn Jimenez, then drove to Phoenix and buried the body.

Jimenez pleaded guilty to being an accessory to murder and was sentenced a year in jail.
