Calif. cousins arrested for reckless driving after BMW crashes into house

(CBS) SAN JOSE, Calif. - Two 17-year-old cousins were arrested for allegedly driving recklessly and causing a crash into a San Jose home that injured a woman and her child on Wednesday afternoon, police said, according to CBS San Francisco.

Police say a silver BMW and a red BMW were being driven recklessly when they collided with each other and spun out of control, according to the station. The silver BMW crashed into a home and injured a 40-year-old woman and her 9-year-old daughter, who were inside.

The woman was transported to a hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries. Her daughter was also hospitalized but is expected to survive, police said, according to the station.

According to CBS San Francisco, several students and parents said that the teen drivers, who are cousins, are students at the nearby Leigh High School.

Three people inside the silver BMW were hospitalized for injuries, but all were reportedly expected to survive. The driver of the red BMW was treated at the scene.

Police say the teens are charged with felony reckless driving and have been released into their parents' custody.

"That was the only offense that we have so far, but there may be more coming," Officer Albert Morales told the station.
