Business Hacks Poll: How Do You Back Up Your Data?
Backups are foremost on my mind these days, as my network-attached storage (NAS) drive died a quick and sudden death last weekend. Thankfully, nothing critical was lost: The NAS was my backup. But much to my dismay, I discovered that its dual-drive "mirror" setup was pretty much useless, as there's no way to actually recover your data if something goes wrong with the unit's controller or one of the drives. (My advice: Steer way clear of the Maxtor Shared Storage II.)
More and more I'm recognizing the need for diversified backups: Using multiple methods to archive data in multiple locations. I'll post more about that in the future; in the meantime, I'd like to know what method(s) you savvy BizHackers use to preserve your precious data. Vote in our poll, then hit the Comments to share your backup strategies.
