Bush's Comments On Economy Clash With Media Reality

A Crypt reader notes this funny little juxtaposition she just found at MSNBC.com’s homepage. The top headline reads: “Bush: U.S. is not headed for recession.”

Then at the bottom of the MSNBC page, she noticed these stories:

"Stocks slide amid more downbeat data"
"Bernanke: Inflation makes Fed's job tougher"
"Economy slows to near crawl"
"Freddie Mac loss swells amid mortgage crisis"
"U.S. dollar keeps falling vs. euro"
"Sears profit falls 48 percent"
"Sprint posts huge loss, scraps dividends"
"Bernanke signals yet another rate cut"
"January durable goods orders plunge"

Either Bush knows something the media doesn't or he just hasn't paid attention during those daily briefing sessions. Or maybe he just doesn't read the MSNBC.com webpage. But the Crypt does, and we are keeping all our money in cash under the mattress right now.
